Drama with Miss Eeles By Yvette

Drama with Miss Eeles

Yesterday at drama we were asked to do 2 activities. The first activity we did was FLOW WITH WORDS. For that activity 2 people were called to come stand up in front of everyone and say something to do with water. In the end John beat everyone. After we finished that activity we were asked to get into groups of 4 - 5. Fine, Jharda'e, Tim and I were a group of 4. We were doing an activity called BUILD AN OBJECT. We had to become objects in less than 30 seconds and then freeze into a freeze frame. We needed to become a freeze frame together. Example - If Miss Eeles asked us to create a hose the whole group would have to become a hose, not become a person holding a hose.
That is what room 5 did for drama.

My Drama Blog Comment By Yvette

 Drama

The first thing we did for drama this week is to become a picture from 3 photos Miss Eeles gave us. Miss Eeles said there would only be 1 group with 5 but 3 people from room 7 joined us so there was 4 groups of 5. I was in a group of 4 with Samantha, Fine, me(Yvette) and Jharda'e. We were a group of four. We got 3 different types of photos. Photo number one was a picture of a park. Photo number two was a photo of a group of kids next to their friends and some people lining up.The third photo was a picture of a group of girls next to the river fooling around. After a picture for each photo we needed to turn it into a freeze frame. For the park me and Jharda'e created a slide. Jharda'e was as still as a lader and i was a bendy slide on the other side. Fine and Samantha were kids sliding down. That was the hard part. For the second photo me, Fine, Samantha and Jharda'e lined up into a line like in the photo. For the third photo Samantha picked up angel like in the photo and Fine knelt down picking up rocks. my action was a person skipping rocks in the water. We presented all these photos but we needed to freeze between them. The next activity we needed to do was to pick a freeze frame we liked and add movement and sound. We picked the park photo. Samantha climbed the ladder(Jharda'e) and slide down the slide(Yvette), after that Fine said"look over there, omg it's a tree". Samantha said "omg look over there, it's grass'. And another whole lot of funny words. I believe my group was best at being sarcastic and enjoying themselves. I believe our group needs to work on trying not to laugh and smerk. After that we had a game of "Splish, Splash, Squirt". That was the end of drama.

My Quiz Results By Yvette

Today for current events we did the kiwi quiz news. Miss Eeles let us choose if we wanted to time ourselves witch was called the challenge. Or you could work with your buddy on the quiz. My buddy scored 90% in less than 2 minutes. I scored 40% in less than 3 minutes. I believe i didn't do well because i don't work well under pressure. I believe I score more when I do not time myself because I can concentrate without worrying about how long I will take. I believe my partner scores better with the timer because she likes challenges. I believe we do fabulous working together as a team.

Room 5's Favourite Sport by Yvette

My favourite sport was netball. There were 27 people in our class so people voted for either netball, soccer, handball, touch or rugby. The most popular sport was soccer. 13 people voted for soccer. I believe soccer was voted more than the other sports  because lots of people go to the after school soccer program with rush. They love it. The least popular sport that was voted in our class was handball. Only 3 people voted for handball. I believe handball was the least popular sport because it is a sport this school does not participate in much. My buddy(Lavinia) and I worked together on this task. My buddy Lavinia wrote down the 5 different sports while I made the chart. My buddy wrote down all the people that were in our class that day and I went around asking them what their favorite sport was. My buddy chose netball.

This Is My Recount On Our Trip To The Tamaki River By Yvette

Rotary Walkway

It was a beautiful, calm and cold morning. I had arrived at school early for our school trip around the Rotary Walkway. My wonderful teacher Miss Paton called out the roll to see who was away and who was at school. We needed to say if we were staying or leaving to go on the trip. Our whole class except John and Jasmine went on the trip. Rooms 5,6,7, 8 and 9 went on the school trip around the rotary walkway and the Tamaki basin. The senior school gathered their bags and sunhats. We met on the court to see how many children were staying at school and where to send the people that weren’t going on the trip to a junior class.

All the classes left at the same time. Miss Kirkpatrick and her class walked in the front. Mrs Anderson was behind our class. Rooms 5,6,7,8 and 9 walked around the Tamaki basin first. We walked all the way from our school to the Tamaki basin. We arrived at the Tamaki basin(finally). Miss Kirkpatrick's class walked a lot faster than our class. They were way in front of our class. We walked halfway around the basin. My legs were burning. I felt like lying on the pathway. There were exercise stops around the basin. We didn’t get to try out any of them because our teacher didn’t let us.

Unfortunately, halfway around the basin it started to rain. It was pouring, I was so soaked I felt like I was in the water. We had 4 camera people in our class taking pictures. The first 4 were Fine, Angel, Samantha and Caitlin. They did a good job. We finally finished walking around the whole basin. Hooray.  At the end of the tracks there was a skatepark .That is where all the classes stopped for morning tea. I was so happy and astonished. I thought we were never going to stop.

I sat down and ate my sausage roll, my pizza bread and drank some water. The Tamaki River was as beautiful as the stars that came out at night. After I had finished eating, I sat down until we were asked to leave. We had 20 minutes of morning tea. 20 minutes passed and Mrs Kirkpatrick asked us to pack away our food and get ready to walk the Rotary Walkway. I walked mostly with my best friend Fine around the Rotary Walkway.. The rotary walkway was so long. I was so hungry. We walked for about 5.5 kilometres until we finished the track. The Tamaki River had an amazing view. The river was in high tide so you could see how beautiful and how extraordinary the Tamaki River is. We almost made it halfway around the Rotary Walkway. We stopped at a small carpark area.

Miss Paton called out the roll to see if anyone was missing. Rooms 5,7 and 8 had a 10 minute rest at the tiny car park area. Our teachers decided to buddy up our class with a room 8 kid. I was buddied up with Iris. Sadly, the Room 8 kids slowed us down. After everyone in Room 5 was paired up with a Room 8 student we would carry on our trip to the end of the Rotary Walkway. We walked for about 30 minutes until we reached the end of our walk. We stopped at the Pakuranga Sailing Club. The Pakuranga Sailing club had a huge open field where we could eat our lunch and play games, it also had a weird training park. There was also another park called “Snakes and Ladders”.
Unfortunately, it started to pour with rain. We were forced to go under shelter. Students started to leave the shaded shelter to play games. Lots of people played on the weird training park.. They didn’t care if it was wet. I walked around the field. We need to wait until the 3 buses came to pick us up to drop us off at school. 2 buses had arrived at the Pakuranga Sailing Club. We needed to wait for 1 more bus to come. I had tried all the training exercises. The last exercise felt weird. The exercise helps build up muscles in your upper thighs and legs.

The last bus had arrived.. Room 6,7 and 8 aborted the first 2 buses.
Miss Paton thought we had our own bus but we needed to share with Room 9. The bus took us back to school. I felt glad that I had the chance to walk around the Rotary Walkway and have a chance to absorb the beautiful view of the Tamaki River. That was our time at the Rotary Walkway.

My Time at the beach By Yvette

It was early in the morning and the sun was coming up. I decided to go for a surfing at the beach. I was going to wear my swimsuit but I could not find it, so I decided to wear my most hideous clothes I had. I wore my school uniform. My mother allowed me to go swimming because we live right next to the beach and whenever she is worried about me she could look out the window and see me. The water was freezing so I decided to lie on my board. I was chilling on my board relaxing until my mother looked out the window and saw me with my uniform on. My mother was so furious she walked straight in to the water and took me out. I then decided to never go swimming in my school uniform. The next time I go swimming and I can't find my togs, I will remember to go swimming in my mufti. :)

My Narrative on Fireworks By Yvette

A perfect night for fireworks
It was a horrible morning. Emily woke up by the most extraordinary noise. She could hear banging on the top of the roof. Emily had a deck outside her bedroom so she decided to go outside on her deck to check out the noise. She opened her curtains and saw it was just raining hail. Emily lived in a 15 story high apartment with her elder brother Josh. Her brother was only 18 so he was allowed to live on his own. Josh offered his sister to come and live with him in the apartment. Emily and Josh's parents were alcoholics, their parents knew that it would be best for their baby girl to go with their son. Emily was 5 years old. She loved reading, playing with her dolls and doing her homework. Josh on the other hand loved soccer, playing his x-box and taking care of his sister.

Emily went to ferman primary school. Ferman primary school was a girl school. It was the best school in the city and the closest to where Emily and Josh lived. The students at Emily’s school were told to leave school for a week due to leakages and lack of inspections. Josh chose to take 1 week off school until Emily’s school reopened. Emily is very frightened of staying at home by herself. Her brother was Emily’s guardian so he had to stay at home with her. Emily loved her family. Emily didn’t have any friends at all, She was a quiet and lonely little girl. It was still a rainy afternoon, Emily was playing with her dolls in front of the tv. She was trying to reenact the Little Mermaid.

Josh was in the kitchen making lunch for Emily. Emily felt like she was coming down with a headache so she decided to go open a window. Emily walked over to the window and opened it, she could feel the cold breeze blowing in her face. She looked down and saw a gigantic banner saying bad boy fireworks. Emily then ran to the calendar and saw it was Guy Fawkes today. Emily asked her brother if he could buy fireworks for them because it was Guy Fawkes. Josh said he would of loved to do fireworks today but it is pouring with rain and Josh didn't think it will stop. Emily felt sad and unhappy. She loved fireworks.

The dark night came and Emily went to bed. She cried under her blanket. She wished she could see fireworks. Josh heard Emily crying. He walked over to Emily’s bedroom to see if she was ok. Josh knew how much she wanted to see fireworks but he said that it was too late in the night to buy some. Emily then heard a bang, and then another bang. She stood up and walked to her terrace. She saw huge fireworks going off at the sky tower. She loved the sight. It was so beautiful. Josh asked Emily if she wanted to go see the fireworks up close. Emily told Josh she didn't need to see the fireworks up close, she could see the fireworks perfectly. It was the perfect night to hold fireworks because there was no rain and no hail. The sky was pitch black.

Emily woke up happy and glad that she had the chance to see  the most marvelous fireworks in the world.
This is my narrative Miss Eeles asked me write. We needed to find a picture from the kiwi kids news articles and write a narrative on it. This is my narrative I wrote on the picture of fireworks.

Drama With Mrs Eeles By Yvette

For drama yesterday room five needed to get in a group of four or 3. Lavinia, Jharda'e, Tim and I(Yvette) was a group of four. Jharda'e went with Mrs Burt somewhere so we ended up with a group of 3. We were given 3 pictures from our trip to the Tamaki River and create a freeze frame. Me and Lavinia were a bridge. We decided to become one bridge because our bridges looked alike. Tim was water so he was the water underneath us. To make this freeze frame me and Lavinia stood on our knees and put both of our arms out and held each others arms. We looked like a long bridge. Lavinia was taller than me so our bridge was a little tipsy. Tim was under neath us trying to freeze in a image that looks like water. The next thing we needed to do was add movement to our freeze frame. Tim was moving his arms like water and me and Lavinia was moving our bridge back and forth like the cars. The next thing we needed to do was add sound. But this time we didn't do our own noise our group did it for us. Lavinia made a water sound for Tim. I made a car noise for Lavinia and Tim made another car noise for me. That is what we did for drama.

Mary's dilema by Yvette

It was the next morning. It was a beautiful morning, the sun was out and the sky was full of birds and light. Mary woke up by the sound of a her pet dog barking at her. Mary felt like it was going to be another amazing day which she could go to the beach, play on her scooter, and talk to her neighbours. Mary got out of bed and checked if her mum was up. There was no sight of mary’s mother. Mary could see that her mothers bedroom door was closed, she was going to wake her mum up, but she didn’t want to disturb her. Mary walked silently to the bathroom, she washed her hands, brushed her teeth, went to the loo and had a shower. Mary put on her school uniform and checked if her mum was awake. Mary still couldn’t see her mum anywhere. She began to walk to the kitchen, she decided to make breakfast until her mum wakes up. She turned on the ketal to make hot chocolate and the hope of her mother waking up. Time grew on and mary was frustrated. She thought her mum would be awake by now. School started in 10 minutes. Mary decided to wake her mum up to so she could get to school on time. Mary opened her mothers bedroom door and saw her mother lying very still in bed.  Mary walked over to her mum and asked peacefully to wake up. Her mother still didn’t wake. Mary then shouted to her mother to wake up. Mary shook her mother, she shook and shook her mum but she still didn’t wake up. Mary checked her pulse to see if she was alive. Mary felt no pulse. Mary bursted out with tears. She cried and cried, still asking her mum to wake up.“Mummy, mummy wake up. Please wake up”. But her mother did not revive. Mary was so sad and emotional, she couldn’t think of what to do. She loved her mum too much too see her die. Mary ran outside, she took her dog with her hoping that he wouldn’t die. Mary ran, knocking on all the neighbours doors. No one answered. Mary remembered there was a festival at the town centre in the remembrance of their honorable and noble king. Mary then ran back to her house and picked up one of the phones, she didn’t any of her relatives number of by heart. She tried to ring the police and ambulance but no one answered. She ran to her mother and kissed her goodnight. She left on her bike with her dog on her lap. She was hoping to stumble onto someone that could help her. Mary peddled and peddled. She finally found a person walking along the rose track. She dropped her bike and ran to the person. She told him that her mum is in bed and she thinks she is dead. She is not waking up. Please help me. The man knew it was no hope calling the police. It was the festival of their noble king. Everyone was expected to attend.
This is my turning twist on a story Miss K asked me to do. I have not finished, but i will update my blog when I do
