My Retelling about Eastern Beach

Our school picnic at Eastern Beach

It was a hot summers day, I felt like I was burning into ashes. On Monday March 4th our whole school including the teachers, parent helpers and the teacher aides went to the annual picnic at Eastern Beach. The whole school started to leave their classes at around 9:10 am. There were games set up like volleyball, Cricket and equipment you can use to make sand castles.

The were 3 buses waiting for us. We aborted the buses at 9:15am. There was three to a seat, I felt squashed like a can of tuna ready to break open, but that really didn’t matter to us because we all were looking forward to Eastern Beach. We finally arrived at Eastern Beach, the little kids were jumping up and down like pop goes the weasel wanting to get out of the bus and into the water. All the classes lined up down the far end of the beach.

Mr Johnston told us all the safety rules and where to go if you got hurt. When he was done the class teachers picked a spot for the classes to put their bags and have a rest. After we found spots for our classes to put their bags and rest we were told to have morning tea. After we finished our morning tea we were allowed to go play except we weren’t allowed to go swimming because it was the juniors that were told to go first.

The Year 7 and 8s went kayaking. I went to go play with my friends’ Leenas and Savannah. We walked around the beach, played twister and ate. I knew it was close to the time when the seniors were allowed to swim. I changed into my tog and got ready. Miss Paton yelled out “Everyone who wants to go swimming come and line up here ”. There were many people.

We ran down to the beach and jumped except me. It was freezing cold, I could turn into a piece of ice. I knew if I just take little steps I’ll make myself want to get out more so I ran and jumped. ‘SPLASH’ I hit the water. Besides the cold water it was soothingly comfortable. I swam around, had water fights and had contests.

Lunch came along, we needed to get out of the water to eat. After we finished our lunch we had to wait for about 30 minutes before we could swim again, because we just finished lunch.  We weren’t aloud to swim because we would feel fat, if we went in straight away into the water we would have sank straight down like a brick. Thirty minutes later, we got to go swimming again.

I stopped not long ago because I started to wrinkle up like a very very old lady. It took me quite a while to change. After I was changed we were already packing up. We lined up with our teachers and alighted the bus and off we were on our way to school.

                       THE END

My Drama with Miss Eeles

I’m learning to get better at doing a Freeze Frame because I just started and it’s little bit hard and we have to copy the picture as best as we can to make it look like the picture.

My Retelling Of Little Red Riding Hood

   Little Red Riding Hood

It was a hot sunny day when poor Little Red Riding Hood's Grandmother became ill. Little Red Riding Hood’s mother had baked some tarts and had some left over butter for poor Granny. “Little Red Riding hood, can you please take this basket of butter and tarts for gran” asked mother. “Yes” replied Little Red Riding Hood.

Little Red Riding Hood put on her red cape and was about to leave then suddenly her mum shouted “stay on Bunnys Woods  path and don’t talk to strangers”. “Of course” mother said Little Red Riding Hood. Little Red Riding Hood lived in a small cottage in Bunnys Woods, there were only a few bunnies in Bunnys Woods that had ever been seen.

While Little Red Riding Hood was walking through Bunny’s Woods a wolf jumped out in front of her. “Where are you going little girl?” said the wolf in a mischief voice. She knew she wasn’t allowed to talk to anyone but she chose to talk to the wolf, she told him where she was going. “I’m going to my Grandma’s house to give her this bucket of goodies” answered Little Red Riding Hood.

“She lives 10 cottages away from here, make a turn left then walk 5 cottages down” said Little Red Riding Hood. Sadly poor little Red Riding Hood didn’t know that the wolf wanted to eat her. The wolf ran as fast as he could to Grandma’s house. He knocked on the door, “who is it?” said Grandma. “It’s me Little Red Riding Hood”, answered the wolf in a little girls voice.

“The door is open” said grandma. The wolf opened the door and swallowed grandma up whole. He put on grandma’s nightie and closed the curtain so Little Red Riding Hood couldn’t see him clearly. He went into her bed and pretended he was Grandma. Little Red Riding Hood finally got there.

She knocked on the door, “W\who is it?” said the wolf. “It’s me Little Red Riding Hood”. “Come in” said the W\wolf. Little Red Riding Hood put the basket on the ground, the wolf said “come in and snuggle with me”. Just when Little Red Riding Hood was going to hug grandma she noticed something different about grandma.

“What big ears you have Grandma”. “All the best to hear you with you my dear” said the wolf. “What great big hairy arms you have”. “All the better to hug you with my dear” said the wolf. “What big great eyes you have”. “All the best to see you with my dear’ said the wolf. The wolf couldn’t wait anymore he needed to eat, what great big teeth you have, “All the best to eat you with my dear” said the wolf.

He jumped out and swallowed Little Red Red Riding Hood whole. The Wolf was tired so he fell asleep in Grandma’s bed. The woodcutter came along and recognised the snoring. He opened the door and shouted “I’ve been looking for you” and then he cut his head off. He carefully cut the wolf's stomach and took Grandma and Little Red Riding Hood out and everyone was safe and lived happy ever after. Now all the bunnies had returned to Bunnys Woods.

The End.

Hi Thomas,

I like how you used complex and interesting words that bring the story to life. Remember to put a space after you do a full stop and also remember to do capitals for names.
Keep up the great work.

First Top Ten

These are the first ten people on the list.

Room 5 Bulls eye Challenge

Cyprus got the highest score. Samantha, Reon and Harry got the lowest scores. Cyprus got 58 in total and Samantha, Reon and Harry got 0 in total. I think Cyprus did better because he concentrated, through the dart fast and aimed. I think Samantha, Reon and Harry got the lowest score because the didn't focus and rushed through the process.

My Silhouette Painting Reflection

Reflecting on my Silhouette Painting

1. Are you pleased with your Silhouette painting? why / why not?

Yes because my painting looks beautiful and is set out correctly.

2. What did you find easy when you created your silhouette painting?

I find that painting was the easiest because it wasn’t so hard.

3. What part did you find tricky when you were creating your Silhouette painting? -think about blending of colours, tracing round your animal and painting within your animal.

Tracing around the animals was really hard because you need to push so hard on your pencil to make it trace.

4. Who / What helped you when you were painting?

A friend helped me to show me what to do and not only did she do that she pushed me along at the hardest parts, also Miss paton helped me blend my colours properly.

5. What would you do differently next time? Think about: blending of colours, animal choice, presentation.

I’d want to blend my colours more precisely.

6. What frustrated you when you created your Silhouette painting?

Tracing over my animal.

My Personal Timeline

I found making a personal timeline was interesting because I learnt how to create a timeline, I learnt how to decorate my timeline and I found out how to use google draw.

I learnt more information about myself that I never would have known. eg. I took my first steps around 9 months.

I would do my presenting differently because I think that I didn’t give enough information and that it might have mistakes in it.
